FAQ: What does "Add To My Library" do?
When you first set up Roon, all your music is identified by our cloud metadata service, which retrieves detailed information about the songs and albums in your library.
Once your music has been added, you'll be ready to start browsing your library in all sorts of new ways. You can browse by album, track, artist, or genre like other music players, but you can also dive deep into the composers who wrote the music, or focus your collection to the years, labels, performers, or producers that matter to you. You can read lyrics, reviews, and bios, or find connections in your library using Discover. All of this is possible once your library is set up in Roon.
The same process Roon uses to make sense of your files also happens every day for all of the music on Tidal's servers. With so many rich connections between the albums in your library and the millions of songs on Tidal, it's easy to explore and find new music to listen to.
When you sign into Tidal, any albums you've marked as "favorites" on Tidal will also appear in your library, making it seamless and simple to explore back and forth between your files and the online Tidal Library.
When you're viewing Tidal content in Roon that's not yet part of your library, you'll see an "Add To Library" button on the album screen. Clicking it will add the album to your Roon library, and will mark the album as a favorite on Tidal, making it easy to find no matter what app you're using.
